EXPERIENCE
The Musician in Residence will enjoy two weeks in Spring Green, Wisconsin, with time to create new music and work the business side of their career. Lodging is provided that will allow the resident live as a member of our community.
The residency requires local collaborations, crafted in partnership with the Musician. Collaborative sessions and public performances in the Spring Green area will involve the community in the Residency. Most performances are free of charge, thanks to support from our sponsors.
The generosity of our community and small arts grants make it possible to pay the artist a stipend and cover lodging costs during the artists time in Spring Green.
ABOUT
The Spring Green Musician in Residence program was created to sow more support for the art of musicianship in Wisconsin. Spring Green has a variety of exciting ways to enjoy music, including The Shitty Barn, the Slowpoke Lounge & Cabaret, BobFest and Beatlefest at the General Store, local taverns/restaurants hosting live music, and the Rural Musicians Forum. But this community goes the extra mile. We don't only support art. We nurture it.
The idea was born from a collaboration between Springboard, a local civic incubator, and The Shitty Barn Sessions, a local music venue known for bringing a variety of high-quality music to Spring Green. We wanted a way to provide a fair wage for creation and performance, promote growth among local artists via collaborations, and bring even more original music to Spring Green.
Administrative and financial support for the program is generated from volunteers, local performance venues, The Shitty Barn Sessions, and Wisconsin arts grant funding.
